بعض الناس نعرف عنهم قصصًا طويلة، وبعضهم لا نعرف عنهم إلا كلمات. وسيدنا إدريس عليه السلام من هؤلاء: آيتان في القرآن، لا أكثر من ذلك. فماذا قالت الآيتان حتى كفتا؟
ذكر الله إدريس عليه السلام في موضعين اثنين فقط من القرآن، وفي كليهما لم يذكر لنا قصّة، بل ذكر صفات. قال: ﴿وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا * وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا﴾. وقال في الموضع الآخر: ﴿وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ كُلٌّ مِّنَ الصَّابِرِينَ﴾.
ثلاث كلمات إذًا: صِدِّيق، ونبيّ، ومن الصابرين. و«صِدِّيق» صيغة مبالغة من الصدق، أي الكثير الصدق جدًّا: يصدق في كلامه، ويصدق فيما يَعِد به، ويصدق مع ربّه فلا يُظهر غير ما يُبطن. وليست كلمة تُقال لكل أحد؛ ما وُصف بها في القرآن إلا القليل. أمّا أين عاش إدريس، وفي أيّ زمان، وإلى من أُرسل، وماذا صنع قومه معه — فلم يخبرنا الله بشيء من ذلك، وما يُروى في كتب القصص عنه أقوالٌ لا يثبت منها شيء.
وانظر إلى ترتيب الكلام في الآية، فهو أعجب ما فيها: ﴿إِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا * وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا﴾. جاء الرفع بعد الصدق، لا قبله. فالمكان العليّ لم يُعطَه لأنه تمنّاه أو طلبه، بل لأنه كان صادقًا صابرًا. وهكذا يرفع الله من يشاء: بما في قلبه، لا بما في يده، ولا بما يقوله الناس عنه.
فماذا بقي لنا من خبر إدريس؟ اسمه، وثلاث صفات، ومكانٌ عليّ رفعه الله إليه. وهذا في نفسه درس: ليس المهمّ كم يعرف الناس عنك، بل بماذا يعرفك الله. وكم من إنسان لا يعرفه أحد في الأرض، وهو عند الله في مكان عليّ. وكم من مشهور لا يُذكر عند الله بشيء.
يقول الله تعالى في القرآن يمدح سيدنا إدريس: {وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا * وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا}.
ما عند الله يُنال بالصدق والصبر، لا بكثرة ما يعرفه الناس عنك.
لو وُصفتَ أنت في سطر واحد، فما الصفة التي تحبّ أن تُذكر بها؟ وما الذي تفعله اليوم لتكون فعلًا كذلك؟
اصدُق اليوم في موضع واحد كان الكذب فيه أسهل عليك وأخفّ.
القرآن الكريم، مريم: 56-57 والأنبياء: 85
وصفه بالصدق والصبر ورفعه مكاناً علياً بنص الآيتين. ولم يذكر القرآن غير ذلك من خبره.
About some people we know long stories; about others we know only a few words. Idris, peace be upon him, is one of these: two verses in the Quran, no more. So what did those two verses say, that they were enough?
Allah names Idris in exactly two places in the Quran, and in neither does He tell a story; He mentions qualities. He said: {And mention in the Book, Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. And We raised him to a high station.} And in the other place: {And Ismail and Idris and Dhul-Kifl — all were of the patient.}
Three words, then: truthful, a prophet, and among the patient. "Siddiq" is an intensive form of truthfulness — someone extremely truthful: true in what he says, true to what he promises, and true with his Lord, showing nothing but what is inside him. It is not a word said of just anyone; very few in the Quran are described with it. As for where Idris lived, in what age, who he was sent to, and what his people did with him — Allah told us none of that, and what the storybooks report about him is opinion, none of it established.
Look at the order of the words in the verse; that is the most striking thing in it: {Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. And We raised him to a high station.} The raising comes after the truthfulness, not before it. The high station was not given because he wished for it or asked for it, but because he was truthful and patient. That is how Allah raises whom He wills: by what is in the heart, not by what is in the hand, and not by what people say.
So what is left to us of Idris? His name, three qualities, and a high station Allah raised him to. And that is a lesson in itself: what matters is not how much people know about you, but what Allah knows you for. How many people no one on earth has heard of stand in a high station with Allah. And how many famous ones are not mentioned with Him at all.
What is with Allah is reached through truthfulness and patience, not through how much people know about you.

His truthfulness, his patience and his being raised to a high place are the words of the two verses. The Quran says nothing further of him.
