اتفقت قريش على مقاطعة النبي ﷺ وكل من يقف معه، وكتبوا صحيفة ظالمة علّقوها في الكعبة. فعاش المسلمون في شِعب بين الجبال ثلاث سنوات حتى أكلوا ورق الشجر من الجوع، ثم مزّق الصحيفةَ رجالٌ شرفاء فانتهى الحصار. وبعده بقليل ماتت السيدة خديجة ومات أبو طالب، فسُمي ذلك العام عام الحزن.
الظلم مهما طال لا يدوم.
اتفقت قبائل قريش على مقاطعة النبي ﷺ وكل من يؤيده، وكتبوا صحيفة ظالمة علّقوها داخل الكعبة، تمنع أن يزوّجوهم أو يبيعوهم. فاضطر المسلمون إلى العيش في مكان بين الجبال يُسمى شِعب أبي طالب ثلاث سنوات، حتى أكلوا ورق الشجر من شدة الجوع. ثم منّ الله عليهم، فقام رجال شرفاء من قريش فمزّقوا الصحيفة وانتهى الحصار. لكن بعده بقليل حدث ما هو أشدّ: توفيت السيدة العظيمة خديجة رضي الله عنها، وتوفي أبو طالب عمّ النبي الذي كان يدافع عنه، فسُمي ذلك العام «عام الحزن».
قال تعالى يعلّم نبيه الصبر: ﴿وَاصْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُ فِي ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ﴾.

Quraysh agreed to boycott the Prophet (pbuh) and everyone who stood with him, writing an unjust document and hanging it in the Kaaba. The Muslims lived in a narrow valley between the mountains for three years, until they ate the leaves of trees from hunger. Then honourable men tore the document up and the siege ended. Shortly after, Lady Khadijah died, and so did Abu Talib — which is why that year is called the Year of Sorrow.
However long injustice lasts, it does not last forever.
The tribes of Quraysh agreed to boycott the Prophet (pbuh) and everyone who supported him. They wrote an unjust document and hung it inside the Kaaba, forbidding marriage or trade with them. The Muslims were forced to live in a narrow valley between the mountains called the Valley of Abu Talib for three years, until they ate the leaves of trees from sheer hunger. Then Allah relieved them: honourable men of Quraysh rose and tore the document up, and the siege ended. But shortly after came something heavier still — the great Lady Khadijah died, and so did Abu Talib, the uncle who had defended him. That year is called the Year of Sorrow.
Allah teaches him patience: ﴿وَاصْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ﴾ — “Be patient, and your patience is only through Allah.”
