ظنّ أكثر الرماة أن المعركة انتهت، فنزلوا من التلّة قبل أن يأذن النبي ﷺ. فالتفّت خيل قريش من ورائهم وانقلبت المعركة. وثبت النبي ﷺ ومعه قليل، وبرزت نُسيبة بنت كعب رضي الله عنها فأخذت سيفاً وترساً تدافع عنه حتى أصابتها جراح.
خطأ واحد في العمل الجماعي يدفع ثمنه الجميع.
لما رأى الرماة المشركين ينكشفون ظنّوا أن المعركة قد حُسمت، فنزل أكثرهم من التلّة لجمع الغنائم قبل أن يأذن لهم النبي ﷺ، وبقي أميرهم عبد الله بن جبير ومعه قليل. فاستغلّ فرسان قريش الثغرة والتفّوا من خلف الجبل، فباغتوا المسلمين واختلطت الصفوف. وثبت النبي ﷺ ومعه نفر قليل، وبرزت البطلة نُسيبة بنت كعب — أم عمارة رضي الله عنها — فتركت سقاء الماء وأخذت سيفاً وترساً، وجعلت تذبّ عن رسول الله ﷺ حتى أصابتها جراح كثيرة. كان يوم أُحد درساً: مخالفة الخطة ثمنها باهظ، والثبات في الشدة يصنع الأبطال.
قال تعالى بعد أُحد: ﴿وَلَا تَهِنُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ﴾.
في العمل الجماعي، لماذا يؤثّر خطأ فرد واحد في الجميع؟

Most of the archers thought the battle was over, and came down from the hill before the Prophet ﷺ gave them leave. The horsemen of Quraysh came round behind them and the battle turned. The Prophet ﷺ held firm with a few, and Nusaybah bint Ka'b took up a sword and a shield to defend him until she was wounded.
One person's mistake in shared work is paid for by everyone.
When the archers saw the idolaters breaking, they thought the battle was decided, and most came down from the hill for the spoils before the Prophet ﷺ gave them leave; their commander Abdullah ibn Jubayr stayed with a few. The horsemen of Quraysh used the gap, came round behind the hill and struck the Muslims from behind, and the ranks were thrown into confusion. The Prophet ﷺ held firm with a small group, and Nusaybah bint Ka'b — Umm Ammarah — put down the waterskin she was carrying, took a sword and a shield, and fought in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until she carried many wounds. Uhud was a lesson: breaking the plan costs dearly, and standing firm in hardship makes heroes.
Allah says after Uhud: ﴿وَلَا تَهِنُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ﴾ — “Do not weaken and do not grieve; you will be uppermost.”
