خرج أهل المدينة كلهم يستقبلونه: الرجال والنساء والصبيان، حتى صعد الصبيان على البيوت. وكان يوماً ما رأوا مثله فرحاً. وتذكر كتب السيرة أن الجواري كنّ ينشدن: طلع البدر علينا. ومن ذلك اليوم صارت يثرب تُسمّى «المدينة».
أجمل ما يُستقبل به الضيف قلوب فرحة.
خرج أهل المدينة كلهم يستقبلون رسول الله ﷺ: الرجال والنساء والصبيان، حتى صعد الصبيان والخدم على ظهور البيوت ينظرون، ويتساءلون: أيّهم رسول الله؟ قال أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه: ما رأيت يوماً كان أحسن ولا أضوأ من يوم دخل علينا رسول الله ﷺ. وتذكر كتب السيرة أن الجواري كنّ يضربن بالدفوف وينشدن: «طلع البدر علينا من ثنيّات الوداع». ومن ذلك اليوم لم تعد المدينة تُسمّى يثرب، بل صارت «المدينة» و«المدينة المنوّرة»، لأن الإسلام صار لها وطناً، وصار لأهل الإيمان بلد يأمنون فيه بعد ثلاث عشرة سنة من الخوف.
قال تعالى في وصف من نصروه: ﴿فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ﴾.
كيف تستقبل ضيفاً عزيزاً يصل إلى بيتكم بعد سفر طويل؟

The whole city came out to meet him: men, women and children, and the children climbed onto the roofs. It was a day of joy such as they had never seen. The Seerah books mention that the young girls sang: the full moon has risen over us. And from that day Yathrib was called “Madinah” — the City.
The finest welcome a guest can receive is glad hearts.
The whole city came out to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: men, women and children, and the children and servants climbed onto the roofs to look, asking one another: which of them is the Messenger of Allah? Anas ibn Malik said: I never saw a day finer or brighter than the day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us. The Seerah books mention that young girls beat the hand-drums and sang: “the full moon has risen over us, from the passes of Wada.” From that day the city was no longer called Yathrib but “Madinah” — the City — and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, the city of light, because Islam now had a homeland, and the believers had a place where they were safe after thirteen years of fear.
Allah says of those who supported him: ﴿وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ﴾ — “and followed the light sent down with him — those are the successful.”
