ما البداية الجديدة التي صنعتها الهجرة في المدينة؟
لم تكن الهجرة مجرد انتقال من مكة إلى مكان آخر. كانت بداية مجتمع جديد في المدينة: صلاة في المسجد، وتعليم، وتعاون بين المهاجرين والأنصار.
كان المهاجرون قد تركوا بيوتهم، واستقبلهم أهل المدينة بقلوب مفتوحة. ومن هذه البداية صار للمسلمين مكان آمن يتعلمون فيه دينهم وينظمون حياتهم بالعدل.
لذلك نسمي المدينة المنورة مدينة النبي ﷺ. وتعلمنا هجرتها أن الإنسان يستطيع أن يبدأ من جديد، وأن الجماعة الرحيمة تجعل البداية الصعبة أيسر.
بدأت في المدينة مرحلة جديدة من حياة النبي ﷺ وبناء المجتمع المسلم.

The whole city came out to meet him: men, women and children, and the children climbed onto the roofs. It was a day of joy such as they had never seen. The Seerah books mention that the young girls sang: the full moon has risen over us. And from that day Yathrib was called “Madinah” — the City.

The whole city came out to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: men, women and children, and the children and servants climbed onto the roofs to look, asking one another: which of them is the Messenger of Allah? Anas ibn Malik said: I never saw a day finer or brighter than the day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us. The Seerah books mention that young girls beat the hand-drums and sang: “the full moon has risen over us, from the passes of Wada.” From that day the city was no longer called Yathrib but “Madinah” — the City — and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, the city of light, because Islam now had a homeland, and the believers had a place where they were safe after thirteen years of fear.
Allah says of those who supported him: ﴿وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ﴾ — “and followed the light sent down with him — those are the successful.”
