صبر المسلمون في مكة ثلاث عشرة سنة على الأذى ولم يردّوا، لأن النبي ﷺ كان يأمرهم بالصبر. ولما هاجروا إلى المدينة وبنوا بيوتهم، ظلّت قريش تهدّد بالهجوم عليهم. عند ذلك أذن الله لهم أن يدافعوا عن أنفسهم وأهلهم، فالإسلام لا يبدأ بالاعتداء، ولا يرضى أن يُظلم أهله بلا حماية.
القوة تُحمى بها البيوت، ولا يُبدأ بها اعتداء.
صبر المسلمون في مكة ثلاث عشرة سنة على أذى شديد: التعذيب، ومصادرة البيوت والأموال، ولم يرفع أحد منهم سيفاً، لأن النبي ﷺ كان يأمرهم بالصبر والكفّ. فلما هاجروا إلى المدينة وأقاموا مجتمعهم الآمن، ظلّت قريش ترسل التهديد وتتوعّد بالهجوم عليهم. عند ذلك — وعند ذلك فقط — نزل الإذن بالدفاع عن النفس والأهل والوطن. فالإسلام دين سلام لا يبدأ بالعدوان، لكنه لا يترك أهله يُظلمون بلا حماية.
قال تعالى مبيّناً سبب الإذن: ﴿أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ﴾.
لماذا في رأيكم صبر المسلمون كل هذه السنين قبل أن يُؤذن لهم بالدفاع؟

The Muslims bore thirteen years of harm in Mecca without striking back, because the Prophet ﷺ told them to be patient. When they migrated to Madinah and built their homes, Quraysh kept threatening to attack them. Only then did Allah permit them to defend themselves and their families. Islam does not begin an attack — and it does not leave its people wronged with no protection.
Strength is for protecting homes, not for starting an attack.
For thirteen years in Mecca the Muslims bore severe harm — torture, and the seizing of their homes and wealth — and not one of them raised a sword, because the Prophet ﷺ told them to be patient and to hold back. Then they migrated to Madinah and built a community that was safe, and still Quraysh sent threats and promised to attack them. At that point — and only then — permission came down to defend themselves, their families and their new home. Islam is a religion of peace that does not begin an attack, but it does not leave its own to be wronged without protection.
Allah says why the permission came: ﴿أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا﴾ — “Permission is given to those who are fought, because they were wronged.”
