بعث النبي ﷺ معاذ بن جبل رضي الله عنه إلى اليمن معلّماً وقاضياً، ومشى معه يوصيه. وقال له ولأبي موسى: «يسّرا ولا تعسّرا، وبشّرا ولا تنفّرا، وتطاوعا ولا تختلفا». وحذّره من الظلم فقال: «واتّقِ دعوة المظلوم، فإنه ليس بينها وبين الله حجاب».
التعليم يبدأ بالتيسير، لا بالتشديد.
لما اتّسعت رقعة الدولة، احتاجت البلاد البعيدة إلى من يعلّمها ويقضي بين أهلها. فاختار النبي ﷺ معاذ بن جبل رضي الله عنه — وكان شاباً عالماً — وبعثه إلى اليمن. ومشى معه النبي ﷺ يوصيه وهو راكب، ثم قال له ولأبي موسى الأشعري رضي الله عنه كلمات صارت قاعدة لكل معلّم بعدهم: «يسّرا ولا تعسّرا، وبشّرا ولا تنفّرا، وتطاوعا ولا تختلفا». وأوصاه أن يبدأ بالأهمّ فالأهمّ، وألا يأخذ من أموال الناس خيارها، وحذّره تحذيراً شديداً من أن يظلم أحداً فقال: «واتّقِ دعوة المظلوم، فإنه ليس بينها وبين الله حجاب». فذهب معاذ يعلّم الناس بالرفق، فأحبّوه.
قال تعالى: ﴿ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ﴾.

The Prophet ﷺ sent Mu'adh ibn Jabal to Yemen as a teacher and a judge, and walked beside him giving him counsel. He said to him and to Abu Musa: “Make things easy and do not make them hard; give good news and do not drive people away; work together and do not differ.” And he warned him against wronging anyone: “Beware the prayer of the wronged — there is no veil between it and Allah.”
Teaching starts with making things easy, not with being strict.
As the state grew, the distant regions needed someone to teach them and to judge between them. The Prophet ﷺ chose Mu'adh ibn Jabal — a young man and a scholar — and sent him to Yemen. He walked alongside him as he rode, giving him counsel, and then said to him and to Abu Musa al-Ash'ari words that became a rule for every teacher after them: “Make things easy and do not make them hard; give good news and do not drive people away; work together and do not differ.” He told him to begin with the most important thing first, not to take the best of people's property, and warned him hard against wronging anyone: “Beware the prayer of the wronged — there is no veil between it and Allah.” So Mu'adh went and taught people gently, and they loved him for it.
Allah says: ﴿ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ﴾ — “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel.”
