جاءت قريش بثلاثة آلاف مقاتل إلى أُحد. فوضع النبي ﷺ خمسين رامياً على تلّة تحمي ظهر الجيش، وقال لهم: لا تبرحوا مكانكم، إن رأيتمونا ننتصر أو نُهزم. وفي أول المعركة تقدّم المسلمون وتراجع المشركون، وكان النصر قريباً.
الأمر يُنفَّذ إلى آخره، لا إلى أول نجاح.
جمعت قريش ثلاثة آلاف مقاتل وجاءت إلى المدينة تطلب الثأر بعد بدر. فخرج المسلمون إليهم عند جبل أُحد، ووضع النبي ﷺ خطة تحمي ظهر الجيش: خمسون رامياً ماهراً على تلّة، أمّر عليهم عبد الله بن جبير، وشدّد عليهم فقال: «إن رأيتمونا تخطفنا الطير فلا تبرحوا مكانكم هذا حتى أرسل إليكم، وإن رأيتمونا هزمنا القوم ووطئناهم فلا تبرحوا حتى أرسل إليكم». وفي أول المعركة تقدّم المسلمون وانكشف المشركون، وكان النصر قريباً.
قال تعالى: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ﴾.

Quraysh came to Uhud with three thousand fighters. The Prophet ﷺ placed fifty archers on a hill to guard the army's back, and told them: do not leave your place, whether you see us winning or losing. At the start of the battle the Muslims advanced and the idolaters fell back, and victory was close.
An order is carried out to the end, not to the first success.
Quraysh gathered three thousand fighters and came to Madinah seeking revenge for Badr. The Muslims went out to meet them at Mount Uhud, and the Prophet ﷺ set a plan to guard the army's back: fifty skilled archers on a hill, under Abdullah ibn Jubayr, and he pressed the order on them: “If you see us being snatched away by birds, do not leave this place until I send for you; and if you see us defeating them and trampling them, do not leave until I send for you.” At the start of the battle the Muslims advanced and the idolaters broke, and victory was close.
Allah says: ﴿أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ﴾ — “Obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away while you hear.”
