لم يكن المسجد للصلاة وحدها: كانت تُعقد فيه حلقات يتعلّم فيها الناس. وجاءت النساء إلى النبي ﷺ فقلن: غلبنا عليك الرجال، فاجعل لنا يوماً من نفسك. فوعدهنّ يوماً، فلقيهنّ فيه وعلّمهنّ.
من طلب العلم بأدب، وجد من يعلّمه.
لم يكن مسجد النبي ﷺ مكاناً للصلاة فقط: كانت تُعقد فيه الحلقات بعد الصلوات، يتعلّم الناس فيها القرآن والأحكام والأخلاق ويسألون فيُجابون. ولم يكن التعليم للرجال وحدهم. جاء نساء إلى النبي ﷺ فقلن له: «غلبنا عليك الرجال، فاجعل لنا من نفسك يوماً»، فوعدهنّ يوماً يلقاهنّ فيه، فلقيهنّ فيه فوعظهنّ وعلّمهنّ وأمرهنّ. لم يقل لهنّ: تعلّمن من أزواجكنّ، ولم يؤجّلهنّ؛ خصّص لهنّ وقتاً من وقته. وبهذه الحلقات البسيطة في مسجد من طين وسعف، تحوّل مجتمع كان أكثره لا يقرأ ولا يكتب إلى مجتمع يقدّس السؤال والتعلّم.
قال تعالى: ﴿يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ﴾.

The mosque was not only for prayer: circles were held in it where people learned. Women came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: the men have taken all of you — give us a day of your own time. He promised them a day, and met them on it and taught them.
Ask for knowledge properly, and you will find someone to teach you.
The Prophet's mosque was not only a place of prayer: circles were held there after the prayers, where people learned the Quran, the rulings and good character, and asked questions and were answered. And the teaching was not for men alone. Some women came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “The men have taken you from us — give us a day of your own.” He promised them a day, met them on it, and taught and advised and instructed them. He did not tell them to learn it from their husbands, and he did not put them off; he gave them time out of his own. Through circles as simple as these, in a mosque of mud and palm branches, a society where most people could not read became one that prized asking and learning.
Allah says: ﴿يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ﴾ — “Allah raises those of you who believe, and those given knowledge, in degrees.”
