في مؤخّرة المسجد النبوي كان مكان مظلّل يُسمّى «الصُّفَّة»، ينزل فيه فقراء المهاجرين ممن لا بيت لهم ولا مال، ومنهم أبو هريرة رضي الله عنه. لم يكونوا مهملين: كانوا طلاب علم، وكان النبي ﷺ إذا أُهدي له طعام أرسل إليهم منه.
قيمة الإنسان بما عنده من علم وخلق، لا بما في جيبه.
كان في مؤخّرة المسجد النبوي مكان مظلّل يُعرف بـ«الصُّفَّة»، جعله النبي ﷺ مأوى لمن قدم المدينة ولا أهل له ولا بيت ولا مال. نزل فيه أبو هريرة رضي الله عنه وغيره من الفقراء. ولم يكن هؤلاء على هامش المجتمع، بل كانوا في قلبه: جلساء المسجد، وطلاب العلم، وأحفظ الناس لحديث النبي ﷺ — ومن هنا صار أبو هريرة أكثر الصحابة رواية. وكان النبي ﷺ إذا أُهدي إليه طعام سأل: أهديّة أم صدقة؟ فإن كانت صدقة أرسل بها إليهم ولم يأكل، وإن كانت هديّة أرسل إليهم منها وأكل معهم. وجعل في المجتمع قاعدة: أن الضعيف ليس عبئاً يُحتمل، بل سببٌ يُرزق به الناس ويُنصرون.
قال تعالى: ﴿وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ﴾.

At the back of the Prophet's mosque was a shaded place called the Bench, where poor migrants with no home and no money stayed — Abu Hurayrah among them. They were not neglected: they were students, and whenever food was given to the Prophet ﷺ he sent some of it to them.
A person is worth what they know and how they behave, not what is in their pocket.
At the back of the Prophet's mosque was a shaded area known as the Suffah — the Bench — which the Prophet ﷺ made a shelter for anyone who came to Madinah with no family, no house and no money. Abu Hurayrah stayed there, and other poor men with him. They were not at the edge of that society; they were at its centre: the people of the mosque, students of knowledge, and the best memorisers of the Prophet's words — which is how Abu Hurayrah came to narrate more hadith than any other companion. When food was brought to the Prophet ﷺ he would ask: is it a gift or charity? If it was charity he sent it to them and did not eat; if it was a gift he sent them some and ate with them. And he set a rule for the community: the weak are not a burden it carries, but the reason it is provided for and helped at all.
Allah says: ﴿وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ﴾ — “Keep yourself patiently with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening.”
