لما وضعت الحرب أوزارها بعد الحديبية، لم يجلس النبي ﷺ ينتظر، بل اتخذ خاتماً نُقش عليه «محمد رسول الله»، وكتب رسائل إلى ملوك زمانه: قيصر الروم، وكسرى فارس، والمقوقس بالإسكندرية، والنجاشي بالحبشة، يدعوهم بالكلمة لا بالسيف.
الكلمة الطيبة تصل إلى حيث لا يصل الجيش.
لما وضعت الحرب أوزارها عشر سنين بصلح الحديبية، استثمر النبي ﷺ هذا الأمان في الدعوة لا في القتال. فاتخذ خاتماً من فضة نُقش عليه ثلاثة أسطر: «محمد رسول الله»، لأن الملوك لا يقرؤون كتاباً غير مختوم. ثم اختار من أصحابه رسلاً يحسنون البلاغ، وبعث بالرسائل إلى كبار ملوك الأرض في زمانه: هرقل قيصر الروم، وكسرى ملك فارس، والمقوقس عظيم القبط بمصر، والنجاشي ملك الحبشة، وغيرهم. رسالة واحدة قصيرة، تدعو إلى عبادة الله وحده وإلى العدل والسلام. فمنهم من أكرم الرسول وردّ بالهدايا، ومنهم من مزّق الكتاب. ولم يُكره أحدٌ منهم على شيء.
قال تعالى في عموم الرسالة: ﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا كَافَّةً لِّلنَّاسِ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا﴾.
لماذا تصل الكلمة أحياناً إلى قلوب لا يبلغها شيء آخر؟

When the fighting was set aside after Hudaybiyyah, the Prophet ﷺ did not sit and wait. He had a ring made, engraved “Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah”, and wrote letters to the kings of his time: Caesar of Rome, Khosrau of Persia, al-Muqawqis in Alexandria and the Negus in Abyssinia — calling them with words, not with a sword.
A good word reaches where an army cannot.
When the treaty of Hudaybiyyah set the fighting aside for ten years, the Prophet ﷺ spent that safety on calling people, not on war. He had a silver ring made, engraved in three lines — “Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah” — because kings would not read an unsealed letter. He chose companions who could carry a message well, and sent letters to the great rulers of his day: Heraclius the Caesar of Rome, Khosrau the king of Persia, al-Muqawqis the ruler of the Copts in Egypt, the Negus of Abyssinia and others. One short letter, calling to the worship of Allah alone, and to justice and peace. Some honoured the messenger and answered with gifts; one tore the letter up. Not one of them was forced to anything.
Allah says of the message's reach: ﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا كَافَّةً لِّلنَّاسِ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا﴾ — “We have sent you to all people, as a bringer of good news and a warner.”
