كان النبي ﷺ في سفر فذهب لحاجته، فأخذ بعض أصحابه فرخي طائر صغير، فجاءت أمّهما ترفرف فوق رؤوسهم. فلما رجع النبي ﷺ ورأى ما صنعوا قال: «من فجع هذه بولدها؟ ردّوا ولدها إليها».
الرحمة لا تقف عند البشر.
كان النبي ﷺ في سفر مع أصحابه، فانطلق لحاجته، فرأى بعضهم طائراً صغيراً يُقال له «الحُمَّرة» معه فرخان، فأخذوا الفرخين. فجاءت الأم فجعلت ترفرف فوق رؤوسهم لا تدري ماذا تصنع. فلما رجع النبي ﷺ ورأى المشهد غضب وقال: «مَن فجع هذه بولدها؟ ردّوا ولدها إليها». ولم تكن هذه حادثة عابرة: نهى النبي ﷺ عن تحميل الدابة فوق طاقتها، وعن اتخاذ ذوات الروح هدفاً للرمي، وعن قطع الشجر لغير حاجة، وأخبر أن في كل كبد رطبة أجراً — أي أن الإحسان إلى كل ذي روح فيه ثواب. الرحمة عند المسلم ليست شعوراً يخصّ الناس فقط، بل طريقة يعامل بها كل حيّ.
قال تعالى: ﴿وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم﴾.
لو لقيت حيواناً صغيراً تعبان في الشارع، تعمل إيه؟

The Prophet ﷺ was on a journey and stepped away, and some of his companions took the two chicks of a small bird. The mother came and hovered over their heads. When the Prophet ﷺ came back and saw it he said: “Who has grieved this bird by taking its young? Give her young back to her.”
Mercy does not stop at people.
The Prophet ﷺ was travelling with his companions and stepped away for a while. Some of them saw a small bird — a hummarah — with two chicks, and took the chicks. The mother came and hovered over their heads, not knowing what to do. When the Prophet ﷺ returned and saw it he was angry and said: “Who has grieved this bird by taking its young? Give her young back to her.” This was not a one-off. He forbade loading an animal beyond what it can carry, forbade using any living creature as a target, forbade cutting trees without need, and taught that there is reward in kindness to every living thing. For a Muslim, mercy is not a feeling reserved for people; it is how you treat everything alive.
Allah says: ﴿وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم﴾ — “There is no creature on earth, nor a bird flying on its wings, but they are communities like you.”
