بعد وفاة خديجة وأبي طالب اشتدّ الأذى، فمشى النبي ﷺ إلى الطائف يدعو أهلها، فردّوه وأمروا الصبيان أن يرموه بالحجارة حتى أدميت قدماه. فجلس يدعو ربه، فجاءه ملك الجبال يستأذنه أن يطبق عليهم الجبلين، فرفض وقال: بل أرجو أن يخرج الله من ذريّتهم من يعبد الله وحده.
أعظم القوة أن تعفو وأنت قادر.
بعد وفاة السيدة خديجة وعمّه أبي طالب اشتدّ أذى قريش، فقرر النبي ﷺ أن يمشي على قدميه إلى مدينة الطائف لعلّ أهلها يؤمنون وينصرونه. لكنهم كانوا قساة، فردّوا دعوته وأمروا الصبيان أن يرموه بالحجارة حتى سال الدم من قدميه الشريفتين. فجلس النبي ﷺ حزيناً متعباً يدعو ربه. فنزل عليه ملك الجبال واستأذنه أن يطبق عليهم الأخشبين — أي الجبلين — فرفض نبي الرحمة وقال: «بل أرجو أن يخرج الله من أصلابهم من يعبد الله وحده لا يشرك به شيئاً».
قال تعالى في رحمته ﷺ: ﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ﴾.
حين يؤذيك أحد وتستطيع أن تردّ، ما الذي يجعلك تختار العفو؟

After the deaths of Khadijah and Abu Talib the harm grew worse, so the Prophet (pbuh) walked to Taif to call its people. They turned him away and set boys to throw stones at him until his feet bled. He sat and prayed, and the Angel of the Mountains came asking permission to crush them between the two mountains. He refused, saying: rather, I hope Allah brings from their children people who worship Him alone.
The greatest strength is to forgive when you could strike.
After the deaths of Lady Khadijah and his uncle Abu Talib, the harm from Quraysh grew worse, so the Prophet (pbuh) decided to walk on foot to the city of Taif, hoping its people would believe and stand with him. But they were hard: they refused his call and set the boys to throw stones at him until blood ran from his noble feet. He sat down, sad and exhausted, and prayed to his Lord. Then the Angel of the Mountains came down and asked his permission to crush them between the two mountains. The Prophet of Mercy refused, and said: “Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their descendants those who worship Allah alone and associate nothing with Him.”
Allah says of his mercy: ﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ﴾ — “We sent you only as a mercy to the worlds.”
