مرّ النبي ﷺ على صُبرة طعام في السوق، فأدخل يده فيها فأصابت أصابعه بللاً تحت السطح الجافّ. فقال: «ما هذا يا صاحب الطعام؟» قال: أصابته السماء يا رسول الله. قال: «أفلا جعلته فوق الطعام كي يراه الناس؟ من غشّ فليس منّي».
الغشّ يبدأ صغيراً وينتهي بأن يفقدك الناس ثقتهم.
كان النبي ﷺ يتفقّد سوق المدينة بنفسه، فمرّ ذات يوم على صُبرة طعام — كومة قمح — ظاهرها جافّ نظيف. فأدخل يده فيها، فأصابت أصابعه بللاً في داخلها. فالتفت إلى البائع وقال: «ما هذا يا صاحب الطعام؟» قال: أصابته السماء يا رسول الله — أي نزل عليه المطر. فقال النبي ﷺ: «أفلا جعلته فوق الطعام كي يراه الناس؟» ثم قال كلمته التي صارت قاعدة في كل بيع وشراء إلى اليوم: «من غشّ فليس منّي». لم يكن الرجل يكذب بلسانه، لكنه أخفى العيب — وإخفاء العيب غشّ. وفي المقابل بشّر النبي ﷺ التاجر الصدوق الأمين بأنه مع النبيّين والصدّيقين والشهداء.
قال تعالى: ﴿وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ﴾.
لو كنت بتبيع حاجة وفيها عيب صغير، هتقوله للمشتري ولا تسكت؟

The Prophet ﷺ passed a heap of grain in the market and put his hand into it — and his fingers found damp underneath the dry surface. He said: “What is this, seller?” The man said: rain got to it, Messenger of Allah. He said: “Then why did you not put it on top, so people could see it? Whoever cheats is not of me.”
Cheating starts small and ends with people no longer trusting you.
The Prophet ﷺ used to walk through the market of Madinah himself. One day he passed a heap of grain that looked dry and clean on top. He put his hand into it, and his fingers came out damp from inside. He turned to the seller: “What is this, owner of the food?” The man said: the rain got to it, Messenger of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Then why did you not put it on top of the food, so that people could see it?” And then the sentence that has been a rule for every sale since: “Whoever cheats is not of me.” The man had not told a lie with his tongue — he had hidden a fault, and hiding a fault is cheating. On the other side, the Prophet ﷺ promised the honest, trustworthy trader that he would be with the prophets, the truthful and the martyrs.
Allah says: ﴿وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ﴾ — “Woe to those who give short measure.”
