قبل أن يخرج النبي ﷺ طلب من ابن عمه الشاب علي بن أبي طالب أن ينام في فراشه ويتغطّى ببردته، حتى يظنّ من ينظر أن النبي نائم. فما تردّد علي رضي الله عنه. وطلب منه النبي ﷺ أن يبقى بعده أياماً ليردّ الأمانات إلى أصحابها — وهم أعداؤه الذين كانوا يأتمنونه.
الأمانة تُردّ حتى لمن يؤذيك.
قبل أن يخرج النبي ﷺ من بيته طلب من ابن عمه الشاب علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه أن ينام في فراشه ويتغطّى ببردته الخضراء، حتى يظنّ المتربّصون من الباب أن النبي ما زال نائماً. فلم يتردّد علي لحظة مع علمه بالخطر. ولم تكن هذه هي المهمة الوحيدة: طلب منه النبي ﷺ أن يبقى في مكة بعده أياماً ليردّ الودائع إلى أصحابها، فقد كان أهل مكة يودعون أموالهم عنده لأنه الصادق الأمين — وهم في الوقت نفسه يدبّرون لقتله. فلما اقتحموا البيت في الصباح وجدوا علياً فاغتاظوا.
قال تعالى فيمن يبذل نفسه: ﴿وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ رَءُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ﴾.
لو ائتمنك شخص تختلف معه على شيء، هل تردّه إليه كاملاً؟

Before the Prophet (pbuh) left, he asked his young cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib to sleep in his bed and cover himself with his cloak, so that anyone looking in would think the Prophet was asleep. Ali did not hesitate. And the Prophet asked him to stay behind for a few days to return the deposits people had left with him — the very people plotting against him.
A trust is returned even to someone who wrongs you.
Before the Prophet (pbuh) left his house, he asked his young cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib to sleep in his bed and cover himself with his green cloak, so that those watching at the door would think the Prophet was still asleep. Ali did not hesitate for a moment, knowing the danger. And that was not his only task: the Prophet asked him to remain in Mecca for some days to return the deposits to their owners — for the people of Mecca left their wealth with him because he was the truthful and trustworthy one, while at the same time plotting to kill him. When they broke into the house in the morning and found Ali, they were furious.
Allah says of the one who gives himself: ﴿وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللَّهِ﴾.
