بينما الناس في صلاة الفجر خلف أبي بكر رضي الله عنه، كُشفت ستارة حجرة عائشة رضي الله عنها، فنظر النبي ﷺ إليهم صفوفاً في صلاتهم، فتبسّم يضحك. فكاد الناس يفتنون من الفرح، فأشار إليهم أن أتمّوا صلاتكم، ثم أرخى الستر. وكانت آخر نظرة رأوه فيها.
أجمل ما يراه المعلّم أن تلاميذه يكملون بعده.
في صباح يوم الاثنين، والناس صفوف في صلاة الفجر خلف أبي بكر رضي الله عنه، كُشفت ستارة حجرة عائشة رضي الله عنها. نظر النبي ﷺ إليهم: صفوف منتظمة، وصلاة قائمة، وأمّة تمشي على ما علّمها من غير أن يكون فيهم. قال أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه واصفاً وجهه في تلك اللحظة: كأنه ورقة مصحف. فتبسّم النبي ﷺ يضحك — فرحاً بهم. وكاد الناس أن يفتنوا في صلاتهم من الفرح برؤيته، وهمّ أبو بكر أن ينكص على عقبيه ليصل الصفّ ظنّاً أن النبي ﷺ خارج إلى الصلاة، فأشار إليهم النبي ﷺ أن أتمّوا صلاتكم. ثم أرخى الستر. وكانت تلك آخر نظرة رأت فيها عيونهم وجهه ﷺ.
قال تعالى في وصف المؤمنين: ﴿سِيمَاهُمْ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ﴾.
لو علّمت حدّ حاجة وشفته بيعملها لوحده صح — هتحسّ بإيه؟

While the people were praying the dawn prayer behind Abu Bakr, the curtain of Aishah's room was drawn back. The Prophet ﷺ looked at them standing in their rows and smiled. They almost broke their prayer for joy, so he signalled to them to complete it — and then let the curtain fall. It was the last time their eyes saw him.
The finest thing a teacher can see is his students carrying on without him.
On a Monday morning, with the people in rows for the dawn prayer behind Abu Bakr, the curtain of Aishah's room was drawn back. The Prophet ﷺ looked out at them: rows in order, a prayer standing, a community going on with what he had taught it without him among them. Anas ibn Malik described his face at that moment: like a page of the Quran. And the Prophet ﷺ smiled — glad at them. The people almost broke their prayer for joy at seeing him, and Abu Bakr began to step back into the row, thinking the Prophet ﷺ was coming out to lead. But he signalled to them to complete their prayer. Then he let the curtain fall. That was the last sight their eyes had of his face.
Allah says of the believers: ﴿سِيمَاهُمْ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ﴾ — “their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration.”
