انتشر الخبر فاضطربت المدينة، وقام عمر رضي الله عنه يقول: ما مات! فجاء أبو بكر رضي الله عنه فكشف عن وجهه وقبّله وبكى، ثم خرج إلى الناس فقال: «من كان يعبد محمداً فإن محمداً قد مات، ومن كان يعبد الله فإن الله حيّ لا يموت». وتلا الآية، فكأن الناس ما سمعوها قبل ذلك اليوم.
في الأزمة، يُحتاج إلى من يقول الحقيقة بهدوء.
لما خرج الخبر اضطربت المدينة اضطراباً شديداً. وقام عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه — وقد أذهله الأمر — يقول للناس: إن رجالاً من المنافقين يزعمون أن رسول الله مات، وإنه والله ما مات ولكنه ذهب إلى ربه كما ذهب موسى. وأقبل أبو بكر رضي الله عنه من مسكنه بالسُّنح، فلم يكلّم أحداً حتى دخل على عائشة رضي الله عنها، فكشف عن وجه النبي ﷺ فقبّله وبكى وقال: طبتَ حيّاً وميّتاً. ثم خرج إلى الناس وعمر يتكلّم، فقال: على رِسلك يا عمر. ثم قال: «أما بعد، فمن كان منكم يعبد محمداً فإن محمداً قد مات، ومن كان يعبد الله فإن الله حيّ لا يموت». ثم تلا: ﴿وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ﴾. قال الناس: فوالله لكأنّ الناس لم يعلموا أن الله أنزل هذه الآية حتى تلاها أبو بكر. وجلس عمر إلى الأرض.
قال تعالى: ﴿وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَفَإِن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ﴾.
لما بيحصل خبر صعب، إنت من النوع اللي بيهدأ ولا اللي بيرتبك؟ إزاي تتدرّب؟

The news spread and Madinah was shaken. Umar stood saying: he has not died! Abu Bakr came, uncovered the Prophet's face, kissed it and wept, then went out to the people and said: “Whoever worshipped Muhammad — Muhammad has died. Whoever worships Allah — Allah is Living and does not die.” Then he recited the verse, and it was as if the people had never heard it before that day.
In a crisis, someone is needed who will say the truth calmly.
When the news came out, Madinah was thrown into confusion. Umar ibn al-Khattab — stunned by it — stood telling the people that hypocrites were claiming the Messenger of Allah had died, and that by Allah he had not died but had gone to his Lord as Musa did. Abu Bakr rode in from his home at as-Sunh, spoke to no one, and went in to Aishah. He uncovered the Prophet's face, kissed it, wept, and said: you were good in life and in death. Then he went out while Umar was still speaking, and said: gently, Umar. And then: “Whoever among you worshipped Muhammad — Muhammad has died. Whoever worships Allah — Allah is Living and does not die.” Then he recited: “Muhammad is only a messenger; messengers have passed away before him.” The people said afterwards: by Allah, it was as if the people did not know Allah had revealed that verse until Abu Bakr recited it. And Umar sat down on the ground.
Allah says: ﴿وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ﴾ — “Muhammad is only a messenger; messengers have passed away before him.”
