في التاسع من ذي الحجة وقف الحجيج على عرفات، وهو أعظم أركان الحجّ حتى قال النبي ﷺ: «الحجّ عرفة». لا تيجان ولا مراكب مزيّنة، الكلّ في ثوبين أبيضين يرفعون أيديهم بالدعاء. ووقف النبي ﷺ على ناقته القصواء ليخطب فيهم.
أطول ما تقف فيه ليس أمام الناس، بل أمام ربّك.
في اليوم التاسع من ذي الحجة اجتمع الحجيج على صعيد عرفات. وهذا اليوم هو ركن الحجّ الأعظم، حتى قال النبي ﷺ: «الحجّ عرفة» — أي من فاته الوقوف بعرفة فاته الحجّ كله. كان المشهد بياضاً ممتدّاً إلى حيث ينتهي البصر: لا تاج ولا موكب ولا علامة تميّز أحداً عن أحد، إنما أيدٍ مرفوعة ودموع ودعاء. وركب النبي ﷺ ناقته القصواء ووقف في بطن وادي عُرَنة، والناس حوله صامتون، ورجالٌ يبلّغون صوته إلى من بَعُد صفّاً بعد صفّ. ثم بدأ يقول لهم ما جمع فيه ثلاثاً وعشرين سنة من الدعوة، وكأنه يعلم أنها آخر مرة يجتمعون فيها معه.
قال تعالى: ﴿فَإِذَا أَفَضْتُم مِّنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ عِندَ الْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرَامِ﴾.

On the ninth of Dhu al-Hijjah the pilgrims stood at Arafat — the greatest pillar of the Hajj, so much so that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The Hajj is Arafat.” No crowns, no decorated mounts; everyone in two white cloths with their hands raised. And the Prophet ﷺ stood on his camel al-Qaswa to address them.
The longest you will ever stand is not before people, but before your Lord.
On the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah the pilgrims gathered on the plain of Arafat. This day is the greatest pillar of the Hajj — the Prophet ﷺ said: “The Hajj is Arafat”, meaning whoever misses the standing at Arafat has missed the pilgrimage altogether. The scene was white as far as the eye could see: no crown, no procession, no mark setting anyone above anyone, only raised hands and tears and prayer. The Prophet ﷺ rode his camel al-Qaswa and stood in the valley of Uranah, the people silent around him and men carrying his voice back, row by row, to those too far to hear. Then he began to say to them what gathered up twenty-three years of calling — as though he knew it was the last time they would all be together with him.
Allah says: ﴿فَإِذَا أَفَضْتُم مِّنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ عِندَ الْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرَامِ﴾ — “When you depart from Arafat, remember Allah at the sacred site.”
