It came down little by little

The Quran did not arrive all at once. It came slowly, over twenty-three years, to make it easier for people while they built their community and mended their habits.

How do we know this?

The Quran, Surah Al-Isra: 106

The gradual revelation is the verse's own words; the span of twenty-three years — thirteen in Mecca, ten in Medina — is standard in the Seerah.
