تسع وعشرون سورة تبدأ بحروف تُسمّى «الحروف المقطّعة» مثل (الم) و(حم). وهي تحدٍّ من الله: القرآن مبنيّ من الحروف نفسها التي يتكلّم بها الناس، ومع ذلك لا يستطيعون أن يأتوا بمثله.
