علامة أخرى للسورة المكية

كل سورة تبدأ بالحروف المقطّعة فهي مكية، إلا البقرة وآل عمران فهما مدنيتان، وسورة الرعد اختلف فيها العلماء — قاعدة تعرف بها متى نزلت السورة غالباً.

البقرة وآل عمران مدنيتان بالاتفاق، وسورة الرعد مختلف فيها وتُعدّ مدنية في مصحف المدينة، وكانت البطاقة تُسقطها من الاستثناء فأُضيفت.

Another clue for a Makki surah

Every surah opening with the separated letters is Makki, except Al-Baqarah and Aal-Imran, which are Madani, and Ar-Ra'd, which scholars dispute — a rule that usually tells you when a surah came down.

How do we know this?

Sciences of the Quran — the Makki and Madani division, and the Madinah mushaf

Al-Baqarah and Aal-Imran are Madani by agreement, and Ar-Ra'd is disputed and marked Madani in the Madinah mushaf; the card left it out of the exceptions and it has been added.
