When the young men of the cave sent one of them to buy food, they gave him a single instruction: walyatalattaf — let him be gentle. Gentle in what he says, how he walks, how he deals with people, so that no harm comes to him or from him.
The Quran, Surah Al-Kahf: 19
The instruction is the verse's own words. The card used to say the word sits exactly at the Quran's midpoint — a claim found in the classical literature without a chain, and one counting does not bear out, so it was removed and what the verse says was kept.
