Two words, the same count

The word “dunya” — this world — and the word “akhirah” — the hereafter — appear in the Quran the same number of times: 115 each, something some who have tracked the Quran's wording have noticed.

How do we know this?

Counted in the Uthmani text — 115 and 115

We counted both words ourselves in the text this site serves: ad-dunya 115 times, and al-akhirah in all its forms 115 times. The count is of the wording, not the meaning — one occurrence (Sad: 7) means “the latter” rather than the hereafter. Scholars disagree over drawing conclusions from such numeric patterns, and nothing is built on it here.
